Fidel Castro had every reason to feel the need to assassinate the President. After all, for years now the C.I.A and the American government had been planning attempts to assassinate Castro himself and many attempts abruptly failed. Another personal motive for Fidel Castro ordering the hit is the fact that just a few years earlier the Americans used a force of 1,400 Cuban exiles to invade Cuba in a failed attempt to topple Castro and his communist government..
This theory is one of the more reasonable theories with 5% of Americans believing in it. Castro had many personal reasons to kill JFK and with the public shambles of the Bay of Pigs just makes it even more plausible. On two separate occasions (1968 & 1969) Kennedy's successor, Lyndon B. Johnson, spoke saying that he felt that Castro was behind the assassination. Fidel Castro denied all allegations on him and said it to be "Absolute insanity" and that "To have the president killed would be to dangerous for Cuba as the Americans would surely retaliate" All though Castro shrugged of any allegations 5% of Americans today believe he did it.
