7% of conspiracy believing Americans blame the C.I.A (Central Intelligence Agency) for the assassination of president Kennedy. This theory became even more popular in the 1960's - 1970's when more of the American people became aware of the C.I.A's attempted assassinations of both Fidel Castro (Leader of Cuba) and Ngo Dinh Diem (President of Vietnam)
In 1961 Kennedy ordered the attack on the Bay of Pigs in Cuba, using 1,400 Cuban exiles as soldiers. This attack failed and backfired in Americas face and was extremely bad publicity. Kennedy went forward with the attack after uninformed direction from the director of the C.I.A. This meant that the bad publicity also fell back on the C.I.A especially after Kennedy forced the Director, Deputy Director, and Director of plans, to resign.

This built resentment within the C.I.A towards Kennedy and this made people believe that the C.I.A retaliated by having President Kennedy assassinated. There have also been claims made that Oswald was a C.I.A agent himself. This added to the rough relationship between JFK and the C.I.A building it to one of the most believed theories of all time. |
